Spring 2011 Recap
Proenza Schouler. This collection was definitely more lady-like oriented than any other. I love the matte colours, pastels and sheer but rich fabrics. Simple and classic, just what I look for and love in a collection, but new and modern at the same time. When we talk about a classic look with a modern twist while still staying current and trendy, Proenza Shouler does it well. Let's also not forget about the PS1 bag which was the most talked about and wanted bag of 2010.
Spring 2011, my faves
All of the Spring collections this year had one major thing in common, white. Pure white was the look at most shows. I love how some of the designers made entire collections out of white, but nothing looked the same. White can be a disaster, but it can also be genius, if done right. Alex Wang did the white look very well. But here at Calvin, we have a collection of mainly white, with pops of blues and reds in between. A pleasing surprise for any eye.
Spring 2011, my faves
Jil Sander. Always a favorite. This Spring 2011 collection was extremely influenced by colour blocking, a very appropriate way to do Spring. I love the way the girls looked here, a bare face but a bright matte lip, one of my favourite looks of all time. As always, i love the simplicity of this collection, but the colour revamps it and turns it into a modern minimalist masterpiece.
